Utilities Down, But Not by Much, Amid Deal Activity — Utilities Roundup

    February 17, 20261 Min Read

Shares of power producers fell, but remained higher for the year to date, amid deal activity.

Portland General Electric struck a deal to buy the wind, natural-gas generation and distribution assets of investment firm Berkshire Hathaway’s PacifiCorp unit in Washington state for about $1.9 billion. The deal includes three generation facilities, 4,500 miles of transmission and distribution lines and local utility operations across 2,700 square miles that serve about 140,000 customers.

The SPDR Select Sector Utilities exchange-traded fund, which tracks the utilities industry group of the S&P 500, is up about 7.5% for the year to date.
