Premier David Burt met in Dublin with Paschal Donohoe, Ireland’s Minister for Finance, Gabriel Makhlouf, Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, and Robert Troy, Minister of State for Financial Services, to discuss cooperation in finance, [re]insurance, and digital innovation.
Premier Burt posted the photos online below, and said, “In Dublin, I met with Paschal Donohoe, Minister for Finance of Ireland. The last time I met with Minister Donohoe was in April at the Eurofi Financial Forum, where we spoke of deeper cooperation between our jurisdictions.
“I also met with Gabriel Makhlouf, Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, to discuss Bermuda’s commitment to cooperation and fairness in cross-border finance, and collaboration in [re]insurance and digital finance. Governor Makhlouf commended the positive working relationship between the Central Bank and the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
“Finally, I sat down with Robert Troy, the Irish Minister of State with responsibility for Financial Services. We explored opportunities for our likeminded nations to cooperate, exchange best practices in digital asset regulation, and support innovation across financial services.
“Following the meetings, I checked in with the Acting Premier and Minister of National Security to get an update regarding preparations for Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda. I ask all residents to please heed the advice of the EMO and complete their storm preparations.”
