    Shares of power producers fell sharply ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision.

    The utilities sector has been among the stock-market leaders in anticipation of a rate-cutting cycle, and could take a back seat to other parts of the market once rate cuts are complete.

    A unit of nuclear-engineering firm BWX Technologies was awarded a National Nuclear Security Administration contract for work on a Domestic Uranium Enrichment Centrifuge Experiment pilot plant.

    Artificial-intelligence technology requires vast amounts of power to construct learning models, but AI could also facilitate cost savings by making energy use more efficient in a range of industries.
