TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A local finance director who was placed on administrative leave was back on the job just days later.
Napoleon City Council members moved last week to place the city’s finance director Kevin Garringer on paid administrative leave on Aug. 22 amid an investigation into the finance department.
Napoleon Council President, John Ross Durham, said on Oct. 25 Garringer was given the green light to return to his responsibilities.
It’s unclear what sparked the investigation. Officials have not disclosed that information and 13 Action News has yet to receive the information we submitted a public records request for.
A statement from Council President Durham on Friday said city council “takes all claims” seriously and believes it is essential to protect the integrity of the city and the people involved.
“The decision was made with careful consideration, ensuring a fair and unbiased investigation process, while protecting all parties involved,” the statement from Durham read. “After conducting our due diligence, we are pleased to announce that we have full confidence in Kevin’s return to his role as Finance Director for the City of Napoleon. The Napoleon City Council stands firmly behind him and appreciates his unwavering professionalism and cooperation throughout this process.
