The Joplin city council are holding a meeting Monday night to discuss setting the property tax levy for 2025.
According to Mayor Keenan Cortez:
“It will remain the same as it was last year. An example of that would be a $100,000 assessed valued home, would make your taxes about 80 bucks. That’s what it was last year. That’s what it’s going to be in this upcoming year. It’s not going to change, no taxes are being raised.”
Newstalk KZRG asked Mayor Cortez where the tax dollars go?
“Part of it goes to the Joplin public library. The other part goes into the general fund to support ongoing programs here in our community.”
The meeting starts at 6 in the council chambers on the 5th floor of city hall at 602 Main.
