FARGO — Utility prices could be going up in Fargo.
An informational meeting was held on Thursday, July 11, with city commissioners and the leaders of different utilities in the city to discuss plans for 2025.
The leaders of water, storm sewer, and water reclamation departments are proposing a total average monthly increase of $10 for residential customers. That’s about 33 cents per day.
$3.50 of that $10 monthly increase would be for water, $3.50 would be for water reclamation, and $3.00 for storm sewer.
They say the increase is a result of rising costs due to plans for new facilities and inflation impacting services.
“We bid chemicals every year so it’s competitive, but we saw 25% increases in 2022 and 2023, so that really impacted our budget,” said Water Utility Director Troy Hall.
Hall also said sharing a regional system with West Fargo and the Cass Rural Water District reduces water rates by 20% overall.
