    Utilities Down on Flight From Safe Havens — Utilities Roundup

    Shares of power producers fell as safe havens such as gold sold off.

    In a year of macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty, speculators have flocked to safe havens including precious metals and, to a lesser extent, utilities. Utilities have also drawn investors betting on increased power usage due to the artificial-intelligence boom.

    Shares of Eos Energy Enterprise rallied after the maker of zinc batteries struck a deal with wholesale power producer Talen Energy and received an incentive from the state of Pennsylvania in the latest signs of torrid artificial-intelligence related power demand.
