GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Next year, the Public Service Commission of South Carolina will look into how Hurricane Helene impacted regulated utilities.
A directive from the agency in October said proceedings will be conducted in 2025 “Regarding the Impact of and Related Recovery from Hurricane Helene on South Carolina Electric Utilities Regulated by the Public Service Commission.”
Typically, these in-depth proceedings include testimony from energy experts and representatives from electric companies.
Issues on the docket will include damage to transmission infrastructure including substations and pumping stations, supply resource restrictions, unforeseeable issues related to storm preparation and recovery, and best storm recovery practices.
The commission voted unanimously in favor of the directive.
FOX Carolina will follow updates on this developing story.
