The Clearmont Town Council met on Monday, July 15, at 6 p.m. at Clearmont Town Hall.

Mayor Chris Schock reported on the partial fire ban in Sheridan County, adding that due to the fires in the area it should be a full ban on fires. “Please don’t burn anything,” he said

Schock said he plans to attend a forum at Sheridan College from 1-3 on July 23. Wyoming governor Mark Gordon will be talking on economic development in Sheridan County and this part of the state.

He talked about his plans to attend the upcoming NEWY (Northeast Wyoming Chapter of WAM, Wyoming Association of Municipals) meeting to be held on Saturday, July 27th at 10 am at City Hall in Sheridan

Schock also reported that the Clearmont Historical Group plans to put up a plaque about Old Town Jail which is in Branding Iron Park. The plaque will cost $500, and the town of Clearmont will contribute $250 to the plaque and the Clearmont Historical Group will pay the balance.

The board voted to hire Two Fellers Tree Service to remove some dead or dying trees at the cost of $5200. They also approved a bid from Klondike Construction, for repairs to the town hall, including new windows, as the old windows leak, for $11,648. They also approved the purchase of two heaters for the town shop from Great Divide Fabrication, at a cost of $5630.

The council also discussed using some of the ARPA grant funding for the Living Aeration System on the city sewer lagoon.

Clerk Kirstie Auzqui and Mayor Schock had this discussion about the system. Auzqui said that maintenance man Pete Basset,

Due to the increased costs, there was extensive discussion about raising the utility rates in town for water, sewer and garbage pickup. Auzqui will draft a new ordinance addressing the rate increase, which will be posted at the post office, and will go through three readings by the Town Council. Public input at council meetings is welcome.

Next meeting will be August 19 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
