Sensex, Nifty 50 recover from lows to end flat, snap two-day gaining streak

    December 15, 20251 Min Read

Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Sensex closed 54 points lower at 85,213, while the Nifty slipped 20 points to settle at 26,027. Market breadth was marginally positive despite the benchmarks ending in the red, with the NSE advance-decline ratio standing at 1:1.

Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Indian equities recovered from the day’s lows to end largely flat, snapping a two-day gaining streak as investors remained cautious amid currency pressures and mixed global cues.

The Nifty Bank index outperformed the broader market, closing in the green with a gain of 72 points at 60,213, led by strength in IDFC First Bank, Federal Bank and AU Small Finance Bank. In contrast, the midcap index fell 71 points to end at 60,213.

The rupee touched a record low of 90.79 against the US dollar during the session, lending some support to information technology stocks, which staged a mild intraday recovery. Coforge rebounded nearly 2% from its day’s lows as the weaker currency improved export earnings prospects.
