The price of UK homes has continued to skyrocket with the difficulty of taking your first step onto the property ladder becoming increasingly difficult over the years.
In the last twelve months the average UK property price has by over £12,000 in the last year alone, with the average age of homeowner also rising to 34 as of 2023.
This is up from 31 years old from 2003 to 2004, according to the very earliest available statistics from the English Housing Survey.
But as the average UK property price rises, so too does the number of houses surpassing the £1 million mark.
Over the last five years the amount of houses surpassing the six-figure benchmark has risen by a third.
In 2024, 3,127 more properties hit or surpassed the astonishing figure, estate agents Savills have said.
Now one in every 42 British home has a £1 million price tag, with the property experts estimating London has seen the biggest increase out of the whole of Britain
Finding a pricey property for very little space is perhaps standard practice now with nearly 10 per cent of city homes hitting the six-figure mark.
