Bilbao-based company Libere Hospitality Group (LHG) has entered the UK market with a property on London’s Edgware Road.
The Spanish operator of short- and medium-term accommodation had previously targeted southern European markets, such as Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece.
Late last month it opened a 44-bedroom site in a refurbished Victorian building in London’s Paddington with ambitions of capturing the city’s business travellers.
The launch comes during rapid expansion for the group, which is due to open an additional 16 properties in 2025, representing 66% year-on-year growth. LHG primarily focuses on management contracts to allow for the business to scale quickly.
Antón de la Rica, co-chief executive of LHG, said: “We are pleased to be taking this significant step in our international expansion. London is an iconic city for both business and leisure travel. We believe that our tech-enabled, operationally efficient model can deliver real value in a market that is both dynamic and highly competitive.”
John Harrington, head of real estate acquisition for the UK & Ireland at LHG, added: “Choosing London aligns with our strategy to prioritise high-demand UK, Irish and European cities, where our business model can scale efficiently. We see sustained demand for short- and medium-term stays in the capital, particularly among business travellers, digital nomads and relocation clients, all segments where LHG has already demonstrated strong performance in other markets.”
Since its founding in 2019, LHG has grown to a portfolio of over 50 hotels and serviced apartments in operation or in development.
