Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called at 11.57am to a home in The Street in Rickinghall.

Crews from Bury St Edmunds, Ixworth, Haverhill, Stowmarket, Newmarket and Beccles are in attendance.

Firefighters are currently tackling the blaze using ladders, jets and breathing apparatus.

An eyewitness said: “Police have now arrived to close the road. The power is likely to be off the rest of the day and into the evening.”

Crews remain on scene with steady progress being made.

As of 6.30pm, eight crews remain on the scene.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire spread is contained, hot spotting and thatch stripping is in progress.”
