Bloomberg seeks a Nordic finance reporter in Stockholm

    August 17, 20242 Mins Read

Bloomberg News is looking for an energetic reporter to break news on the biggest banking and finance stories in the Nordic region. You’ll be spearheading coverage of the region’s biggest banks — Nordea, SEB, Handelsbanken, Swedbank, Danske Bank, DNB Bank — as well as digging into the broader Nordic financial-services industry. The successful candidate will also play a central role in reporting on the winners and losers in the region’s property sector as cash-strapped landlords such as SBB look for ways to ease the debt pressures on their balance sheets.

This is core coverage for us and we’re looking for a reporter who likes to dig deep and be first with what’s going on inside the boardroom. We want a self-starter who understands our readers and can deliver scoops on everything from CEO changes to trading performance and job cuts. The ideal candidate can pivot quickly from spot coverage to bigger analytical pieces that tell readers what it all means.

You should have a track record of breaking high-impact news and writing longer-form enterprise pieces and exceptional people skills to ensure you are able to develop sources among senior executives. Previous experience covering finance or business is a plus. The ability to leverage Bloomberg’s global newsroom by cooperating across teams and time zones is also a vital aspect of the role as is a desire to work across all our formats including TV, radio and digital.

    We’ll trust you to:

    – Constantly develop sourcing at the highest levels of finance in order to break the biggest news in the industry

    – Produce quick-fire stories as well as long-term enterprise that inform our readers

    – Identify the stories that need to be told across Nordic banking and a hunger to report the unreported

    – Willingness to explore original ways to tell our biggest stories

    – Take the initiative and drive our coverage of Nordic finance forward

    You’ll need to have:

    – Minimum of three years reporting experience

    – Sound news judgement and a talent for looking beyond the obvious story

    – A willingness to work well within a team and with others across the newsroom

    – Strong English abilities as well as knowledge of at least one Nordic language
