Some of the Nordic region’s largest companies and investors are exploring the creation of a single unified stock exchange across Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, Bloomberg reported. The initiative, led by Nordic Compass, aims to break down national barriers, attract more capital, encourage IPOs and strengthen the region’s capital markets.
The proposal could face hurdles as Nasdaq, Euronext and other market infrastructure providers would need to cooperate. Nordic Compass plans to present its vision at a summit in Gothenburg in November, though discussions remain exploratory. The push comes as Nordic companies increasingly seek US listings, while IPO activity across the region remains below pre-Covid levels.
