    Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Market ends near flat as Nifty fails to hold 24,400; midcaps outperform

    Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Sensex rose 114 points to 78,080, while the Nifty slipped 40 points to 24,396. The Nifty Bank fell 251 points to 57,635, while the midcap index gained 97 points to 64,122. Market breadth was neutral, with the advance-decline ratio at 1:1.

    Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Indian equity market ended near the flatline on Thursday, with the Nifty failing to hold the 24,400 mark even as the midcap index outperformed the benchmark indices after CAS adjustments.

    The Sensex rose 114 points to 78,080, while the Nifty slipped 40 points to 24,396. The Nifty Bank fell 251 points to 57,635, while the midcap index gained 97 points to 64,122. Market breadth was neutral, with the advance-decline ratio at 1:1.

    Among the Nifty stocks, Hindalco was the top loser as royalty payment for the Aditya Birla Group brand weighed on the stock. Ultratech and Grasim also ended nearly 2% lower each. Tata Group stocks recovered, with Tata Consumer Products and Tata Motors PV among the top Nifty gainers.

    In the broader market, Astral and Sonal reported better-than-expected first-quarter results, with both stocks rising around 8%. Page Industries fell nearly 5% after its earnings missed expectations, while Nalco slipped nearly 5% amid a fall in aluminium prices overnight.

    Force Motors declined 4% on profit booking, and Tube Investments fell nearly 3% ahead of its results due on Friday.

    Godrej Consumer Products recovered after an 11% fall in the previous session and ended 3% higher. Bharat Dynamics, Amber Enterprises, Oberoi Realty and Paytm were among the top midcap gainers.

    Sansera Engineering ended lower but recovered sharply from its lows following a positive outlook, while TVS Srichakra gained 3% after reporting a healthy set of Q1 results.
