WB Property Group has won a £18.6m contract to build 70 affordable homes in Rubery, Birmingham.
The 58 houses and 12 apartments, brought forward in conjunction with Midland Heart housing association, will be constructed on a 5.6-acre site off Boleyn Road, around seven miles from Birmingham city centre, alongside designated public open space, a children’s play area, landscaping, parking and access.
It’s the biggest contract in the WB Property Group’s two-year history and follows the recent securing of a £13.1m development of 52 affordable homes on Hagley Road, Edgbaston, for Citizen Housing.
Steve Wilkes, construction director at WB Property Group, said: “It was a highly competitive process and took a lot of hard work, determination and tenacity from the WB team and all the many partners involved in getting it over the line.
“Projects like this are hugely important, not just for the sector, but for the communities they support, and we’re looking forward to bringing this scheme to life to provide much-needed high-quality, affordable new homes for families.”
Full planning permission for the site has already been awarded, and work will begin in the coming weeks.
Joe Reeves, deputy chief executive of Midland Heart, said: “These new homes will make a real difference for families in Rubery, providing much‑needed, affordable housing in a growing community.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with WB Property Group to bring this scheme forward and deliver high‑quality homes that meet local need.”
