Wales & West Utilities has finished upgrading gas mains in the Barnwood Road area of Gloucester, following work under way since late January.
The project was carried out to ensure the long-term safety and reliability of gas supplies in the community.
Mick Gallavin, who managed the work for Wales & West Utilities, said: “We would like to thank the local community for bearing with us whilst we completed this essential work.
“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the area.
“Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner, or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
“This work was essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”
Wales & West Utilities operates the gas emergency and pipeline network across Wales and the South West of England and delivers energy to more than 7.5 million people.
The company does not sell gas but transports it through an extensive underground network of more than 35,000 kilometres of pipes.
