Property Brothers’ new HGTV series is brutally slammed by viewers as they fume it’s too similar to past shows

Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott are catching heat from HGTV fans over their new show Under Pressure, with many claiming that the series is too similar to what they’ve seen before.

The television stars, both 47, returned to the network with the program earlier this month.

The 14-part show sees the brothers guide clients through the ups and downs of the home buying process, including the brutally competitive markets and sticker shock to tough compromises.

Ahead of its debut, Drew enthused that the show will feature a real ‘docu-style’ and ‘behind-the-scenes’ element.

‘We don’t turn the camera off, so you get to see a lot of the stuff that normally would happen after we stopped rolling,’ he gushed to People.

But the Property Brothers’ latest series has sparked a less than lukewarm response from fans of the network since its premiere, many of whom scolded the network for giving them ‘more of the same.’

Voicing their complaints on Reddit, one viewer argued: ‘Not sure why they keep getting shows that are all the same.

‘I liked when they competed against each other for a reno but everything else they do is the same. And why them all the time?’

‘All of their shows are just a slightly different version of each other with different names (except IOU) and it’s annoying!’ another pointed out.

‘Stick with one premise, make it really good and stop taking over the network with the same show!’

‘The Property Brothers just keep doing the same shows over and over and changing the name,’ another said, echoing a similar sentiment.

‘They seem to be getting even more scripted with each one. I love them, but Celebrity IOU is the only one of their shows that I find interesting anymore. I wish they would bring back Brother Versus Brother.’

Last year, HGTV culled several fan favorite shows, including Bargain Block, Izzy Does It and Married to Real Estate.

While the Scott brothers came off unscathed, some fans have claimed that there is now a lack of diversity on the network.

Another said: ‘My issue is that several good shows with good people were cancelled and there is no variety left. I used to love the bros but I’ve grown very tired of them and feel like HGTV is trying to force them on the viewers.’

Not everyone was critical though, and one even argued that the episodes harked back to the early days of Property Brothers.

They said: ‘I’m watching the first episode of the new show now and I’m loving the fact it’s extremely close to the type of show they started on the network which is what their fans usually actually want to watch.

‘It’s a good mix of the OG Property Bros and Buying and Selling.’

Another simply wrote: ‘Some of us actually like them and their shows.’

The Scott brothers first arrived at HGTV in 2011 when their program Property Brothers premiered.

The show, which ran for 13 seasons on the network, followed the twins as they helped prospective homebuyers find a fixer-upper and remodel it into their dream home while staying within their budget.

Since then, the pair have gone on to co-host numerous Property Brothers spin-offs on HGTV.

Variants of the main show have included Property Brothers: At Home (2014), Property Brothers: At Home on the Ranch (2015), Property Brothers at Home: Drew’s Honeymoon House (2017) and Property Brothers: Forever Home (2019).
