MF Trends: AUM of managed funds to double past Rs 455 lakh crore by 2030
Managed funds have become a force to reckon with as the shift in India’s investment narrative gains traction, with savings increasingly moving from traditional avenues such as fixed deposits to professionally managed, market-linked portfolios, indicates our report, ‘The ascent of alternatives’, released last Friday.
The report projects the assets under management (AUM) of India’s managed funds industry to grow 2.1x from Rs 2121 lakh crore last fiscal to ~Rs 455 lakh crore by fiscal 2030, as financialisation and investor participation increase.
That would take managed investments to ~73% of GDP, compared with ~64% as of last fiscal.
Managed funds include mutual funds, life insurance, retirement funds, portfolio management services (PMS), alternative investment funds (AIFs), real estate investment trusts (REITs) and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs).

Commodities market live: Movement in oil prices by Rajeev Sharan, Head – Criteria, Model Development & Research, Brickwork Ratings:
“The latest surge in crude prices is a textbook reminder of how quickly the geopolitical risk premium can reprice when supply routes are threatened. Escalating US-Iran tensions and fears of disruption around the Strait of Hormuz have pushed Brent to multi-month highs, as markets reevaluate the risk of a sustained supply shock. The US Supreme Court’s tariff ruling adds another layer of uncertainty to global trade, amplifying risk premiums across commodities. For India and other oil-importing economies, this raises the prospect of renewed input cost pressures, stickier inflation, and narrower policy space. From a credit rating perspective, the immediate focus is on fuel-intensive sectors such as airlines, road transport, and chemicals, and on sovereigns with large energy import bills, where a prolonged spike in crude could weaken external balances, compress margins, and incrementally weigh on credit profiles.”

Currency market updates: Dollar languishes as Asia markets reopen to renewed tariff turmoil
The dollar languished on Tuesday as Asian markets weighed the fallout on global trade from renewed turbulence over U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff regime. The greenback held losses as China and Japan reopened after holidays and Trump warned countries against retreating from recent trade deals after the Supreme Court struck down his emergency tariffs.
The yen was a shade weaker after the Nikkei newspaper said U.S. authorities took the lead in conducting so-called rate checks last month to prop up Japan’s currency. Washington’s latest tariff threats are clouding the outlook for global trade, following the Supreme Court’s ruling that Trump’s use of a 1977 emergency law to impose tariffs exceeded his authority. – Reuters
