US Stock Market LIVE Updates:  US equity markets edged higher on Friday (January 9) after the release of December’s jobs report and ahead of a potential Supreme Court ruling on tariffs. The S&P 500 climbed 0.3%, paralleled by a similar gain in the Nasdaq Composite.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 98 points, or 0.2%. The latest payroll data showed nonfarm employment increasing by 50,000 in December, below the Dow Jones estimate of 73,000, indicating slower-than-expected job creation.

The unemployment rate, however, fell to 4.4% from 4.5%, signalling continued underlying strength in the labour market. Investors interpreted the figures as a sign that the economy is progressing steadily, with potential for growth to accelerate in the coming months.

Stay tuned for key live updates as the US trading session unfolds.
