When does the stock market open after Christmas? Holiday hours

    December 26, 20252 Mins Read

After a shortened Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off, is the stock market back to normal?

Most of the federal government is still closed. President Donald Trump on Dec. 18 issued an executive order declaring Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 26, as federal holidays for this year, shutting down much of the federal government for a five-day weekend. And earlier this year, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that state employees would get two four-day holidays for Christmas and New Year’s.

U.S. trading should open at the normal times today, but some international markets will be closed for Boxing Day.

After today, the stock market schedule will be business as usual until the markets close early again on New Year’s Eve and remain closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.

    Here’s what to know.

Yes. After being closed since 1 p.m. ET Wednesday, Dec. 24, the New York Stock Exchange will reopen for core trading at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Other early trading hours remain the same.

NYSE American Equities, NYSE Arca Equities, NYSE National, and NYSE Texas late trading sessions will all operate normal hours.

Is Nasdaq open Dec. 26, 2025?

Yes. Nasdaq closed at 1 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen Friday at 9:30 a.m.

Is the US bond market closed on Christmas 2025?

The U.S. bond market resumes normal hours Friday, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
