    Black Friday stock market schedules, what to know

    Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now it’s time to get back to business.

    Can you? Is the stock market open on Black Friday?

    Yes, but get your trades in quickly. The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will reopen the normal times Friday morning after the Thanksgiving holiday, but they’ll both close early at 1 p.m. ET.

    The U.S. bond market was also closed on Thursday and is scheduled to close at 2 p.m. ET Friday, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

    After Friday, the stock market schedule will be business as usual until the markets close early on Christmas Eve and remain closed Thursday, Dec. 25.

    Here’s what to know.

    Is the stock market open today?

    The New York Stock Exchange will open at normal hours but will close at 1 p.m. ET Friday, Nov. 28.

     NYSE American Equities, NYSE Arca Equities, NYSE National, and NYSE Texas late trading sessions will close at 5 p.m. 

    What time does Nasdaq close today?

    Nasdaq will open for normal trading hours but will close at 1 p.m. Friday.

    What time does the U.S. bond market close on Black Friday?

    The U.S. bond market will close at 2 p.m. ET Friday, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

    What time does over-the-counter trading close on Black Friday?

    Over-the-counter trading, which is done without an exchange, will close at 2 p.m. ET on Black Friday.

    United States stock market 2025 holiday schedule

    U.S. stock markets will be closed on the following days in 2025:

    • Wednesday, Dec. 24: Markets close at 1 p.m. ET
    • Christmas: Closed
    • Wednesday, Dec. 31: Markets close at 1 p.m. ET
    • Thursday, Jan. 1: Closed

    Are international markets open on Christmas Eve?

    Foreign exchanges do not observe Thanksgiving Day. The next holidays for overseas trading are:

    • London Stock Exchange:
      • Wednesday, Dec. 24: Markets start closing at 12:30 p.m. London time, or 7:30 a.m. ET
      • Christmas Day: Closed
      • Friday, Dec. 26: Closed for Boxing Day
      • Wednesday, Dec. 31: Markets start closing at 12:30 London time, or 7:30 a.m. EST
      • Thursday, Jan. 1: Closed for New Year’s Day
    • EuroNext Paris:
      • Wednesday, Dec. 24: Half day, times to be announced
      • Christmas Day: Closed
      • riday, Dec. 26: Closed for Boxing Day/St. Stephen’s Day
      • Wednesday, Jan, 1: Closed for New Year’s Day
    • Hong Kong Stock Exchange:
      • Wednesday, Dec. 24: No afternoon and after-hours trading session for Non-Holiday Trading Exchange Contracts
      • Thursday, Dec. 25: Market closed. No after-hours trading session for Holiday Trading Exchange Contracts – all MSCI Futures
      • Friday, Dec. 26: Hong Kong Market is closed the first weekday after Christmas Day
      • Tuesday. Dec. 31: No afternoon and after-hours trading session for Non-Holiday Trading Exchange Contracts
      • Wednesday, Jan, 1: Closed for New Year’s Day
    • Shanghai Stock Exchange:
      • Thursday, Jan. 1: Closed for New Year’s Day
    • Tokyo Stock Exchange will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and Thursday, Jan. 1.
