Stock Market Today: Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 opened lower, tracking mixed global cues.

BSE Sensex opened 299.17 points lower at 80,684.14 levels. Likewise, NSE Nifty50 opened 76.75 points lower at 24,759.55 levels.

    Global Cues

Globally, investors are awaiting key US data releases, including non-farm payroll numbers and the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet data, as well as the Euro Area’s Producer Price Index (PPI) and HCOB Services PMI. Domestically, all eyes are on the upcoming release of India’s foreign exchange reserves.

Asian markets traded mixed on Friday morning. Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.42% after the country’s September unemployment rate rose to 2.6%, surpassing market expectations of 2.4%. In contrast, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.17%. Markets in mainland China and South Korea remained closed for holidays.

Overnight on Wall Street, US equities ended at fresh record highs, buoyed by gains in the technology sector. Investors remained cautious amid ongoing monitoring of private labor market data during the second day of the US government shutdown. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.39%, the S&P 500 inched up 0.06%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.17%.
