United Utilities update as burst water pipe floods Warrington street

    August 19, 20252 Mins Read

The issue was first reported in Warrington at around 2pm yesterday, Monday, after residents reported having no water or low water pressure.

United Utilities said it was investigating the problem which was impacting properties in the WA1, WA2 and WA3 areas.

Later on in the afternoon, it was confirmed that the cause of the problem was a burst water pipe on Anderson Close in Padgate.

The street itself was flooded – but fortunately, it is understood that no properties were damaged by the water which was cleaned up that evening.

Residents also reported having discoloured water. United Utilities said this was due to a disturbance in the water mains, meaning historical sediments that had built up over time in the water pipe had been disturbed. But it said this was nothing to worry about.

At 10.30pm last night, a United Utilities spokesperson told the Warrington Guardian: “We received reports of a burst on Anderson Close, in the WA2 postcode of Warrington earlier today, August 18, and some customers may have experienced no water, or low water pressure as a result.

“Our water tankers will remain in the vicinity pumping water back into the network, and we are also redirecting water from other areas to help keep our customers on supply. Bottled water is also being delivered to those customers signed up to our Priority Services register.

“Engineers are on site and working hard on the repair, and customers should start to see their water pressures return to normal. We’d like to thank our customers for their patience while we work quickly to resolve the issue. We apologise for any inconvenience.”

As of this morning, Tuesday, United Utilities has revealed that the repair is more complex than it first thought and that it is taking its team longer than expected to complete the works.

Although it said that all residents should have supply – but this may fluctuate during peak times of the day.

The latest update at 8.45am has confirmed that teams are still onsite working to repair the burst as quickly as possible.

A spokesperson said: “Please be assured, our team are doing all they can and will have things back to normal as soon as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this is causing.”
