A crucial alert has been issued for UK households who keep jars of Vaseline at home. The alert comes as reports emerge of a scorching 34C heatwave approaching.

One essential method to help cool your property could involve Vaseline. The lesser-known window trick that will help eliminate hay fever immediately – and the remedy is sitting in your bathroom – according to specialists, as conditions brighten.

Window specialist Danny Stalman, from Plan-It Window, explained: “Every year, hay fever sufferers face consistent battles, especially during spring and summer. Research suggests that applying a thin layer of Vaseline on window frames and edges can significantly alleviate hay fever symptoms.” In other news, here’s the exciting heatwave forecast with maps revealing the exact date a 39C heat plume will scorch the UK.

By establishing a protective layer with Vaseline, you successfully capture pollen before it infiltrates your property, reports Birmingham Live. “Ensure window frames and sills are free from mould and condensation to reduce pollen infiltration into your home,” he continued to the UK.

In its pollen prediction for Monday, the Met Office cautioned: “Nettles and mugwort pollen airborne in warm weather. Spores: Alternaria, Cladosporium, Aspergillus when warm, Didymella and allies when humid.”

The pollen monitoring system merges Met Office meteorological information with knowledge from bodies including the National Pollen and Aerobiological Unit to generate pollen predictions for 5 days ahead throughout the entire UK. The forecasting agency clarified: “Pollen is made up of tiny particles which are released by plants and trees as part of their reproductive cycle. It is an extremely fine powder and is spread by insects and the wind.

They continued: “Pollen can cause significant irritation and inflammation in people who are allergic to it. Pollen can be inhaled by humans and animals. For those with an allergy, pollen triggers the antibody immunoglobulin E, which creates mucus and leads to symptoms such as congestion and sneezing.”

How to use Vaseline for hay fever

    • Apply a tiny amount of Vaseline around the nostrils area, inside the nostrils and under the eyes (if needed)
    • Reapply it when required, after blowing your nose or washing your face

It’s essential to note that Vaseline isn’t a cure for hay fever, but it can help manage its symptoms. As explained by Benenden Health, it can help minimise sneezing, a runny nose and itchiness.
