Kevin Alexander appointed as New Deputy General Manager of Inland Empire Utilities Agency

    October 18, 20243 Mins Read

The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) has announced the appointment of Kevin Alexander as the Agency’s next Deputy General Manager, succeeding Christiana Daisy following her retirement. Alexander, a seasoned professional with nearly 30 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry, will assume the role on November 4, 2024.

Alexander joins IEUA from Hazen and Sawyer, where he served as Vice President and Director of Membrane Treatment, as well as West Regional Manager. His extensive background includes the planning, design, and construction of critical water infrastructure for municipalities and special districts throughout California. Notably, he played an integral role in the design of the membrane system for the Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System, one of the largest of its kind in the world. He also served as Program Manager for the Water Replenishment District’s Brackish Groundwater Reclamation Program, further cementing his expertise in advanced water treatment and resource management.

Alexander’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for IEUA, as the agency continues to prioritize sustainability and water resiliency in the region. He brings with him a wealth of operations support experience, having worked with agencies like the Chino Basin Desalter Authority to optimize and troubleshoot complex treatment systems.

“We are excited to have Kevin Alexander join our fantastic team at IEUA,” said Shivaji Deshmukh, General Manager of IEUA. “He has exceptional experience in integrated water resources, having worked on significant projects across Southern California that embody the ‘One Water’ concept. His expertise will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our capital improvement program, ensuring we maintain our critical infrastructure and support regional resiliency.”

As Deputy General Manager, Alexander will oversee key Technical Resources programs at IEUA, including Engineering, Operations & Maintenance, and Planning & Resources, as well as the Chino Basin Program. He will also manage the operations of the Chino I Desalter and the Inland Empire Regional Composting Facility—both essential components of the agency’s commitment to sustainable water management.

Alexander expressed his enthusiasm for joining the team, stating, “To join an agency like IEUA that has such a positive reputation in the water and wastewater communities is truly an honor. IEUA is a known leader in advancing essential projects to support public health and local water supply reliability. I am looking forward to providing my insight and guidance on the many complex and challenging projects the Agency will be embarking on.”

With this new leadership, IEUA is poised to further its mission of ensuring a sustainable water future for the Inland Empire, navigating the challenges of water supply reliability and regional resilience with expertise and innovation.
